This past week was filled with school during the weekdays and two fun activites over the weekend. Pretty much all of my classes here have a project assigned or a written final about the course. So it is super nice to get away from all of the school work over the weekend. On Saturday (5/9/15) I went on a field trip to a winery with my Spanish class. The winery was called Macia Batle. We arrived at the winery around 11:30 AM. We were given a tour of the facility and were told about some of their wines that they make and the process that the grapes go through in order to make wine. We tried two different types of wine, a white one (Blanc de Blancs) and a rose (rosado). I really enjoyed the rosado. We were also given crackers with olive oil or a tapanade on top of them. After we were finished with our tasting, we were able to purchase items from the shop if we chose to. At our tasting we tried a type of chile honey sauce that I really enjoyed. So I decided to purchase that for my family to try and a really good hot salsa also for my family to try. (The salsa is just a mix of herbs and spices. You have to add in olive oil for it to become a salsa.) We Indiana Ravers love spicy food, so I figured this was the perfect thing to bring back home. After our field trip was over, I ate lunch at my home stay and then worked on homework for a bit that afternoon in a cafe. I'm really wishing that there was an area similar to the Purdue Memorial Union here. But sadly, there is not. My friend Emily and I got some looks with us working on our laptops. Haha. | On Sunay, so yesterday, Emily and I went to a beach called Cala Vinyes. It took quite a while to get to, but was well worth the walk. It was really pretty. It had palm trees, tiki huts, a cove, and cliffs all jam packed into one beach. We stayed there for a couple of hours soaking up rays. (I got a little too much sun on my face, but am hoping that it will turn into a nice tan here in the next couple of days.) After we got back to Palma, we stopped by and got some much needed cones of ice-cream after a hot day at the beach. Last night after I got back I spent some time to relax before this very busy week that I am about to experience. Next week I have two projects due and a written Spanish final. I'm into the home stretch of school which is nice, but also very stressful. I just take breaks every now and then so I don't go too crazy. Haha. So from my side of the world and until next time, hasta luego! |
