Hello once again! This past weekend, like the title implies, was a weekend filled with markets. On Saturday both Spanish classes visited Mercado de Pere Garau. This market had everything from clothing, fresh fruits and vegetables, many types of fish and meat, flowers, and of course pastries and candy (my favorite :) ). All of the fruit looked so good and really made me crave fruit after the excursion was over. Another interesting thing that we saw a the market were live snails in a bucket for sale! I'll be posting pictures in the photo gallery on here, so make sure to check those out! The excursion lasted only two hours, so I had the rest of the day to relax.
On Sunday was Día de Las Baleares. This market was completely different from the one that I went to on Saturday. This was a medieval market and the stands went on forever it seemed like! (Sorry Dad, there were no giant turkey legs here like there is at the one back in Indiana.) There were a ton of different cheese and sausage stands so of course we had to sample from each of the stands. This was pretty much our lunch. After looking at many different stands and sampling, we found a stand that sold beer (or cervezas). I ordered a Tramuntana Rossa (a pale ale). Along with the many cool stands we saw, there were different shows and activities going on throughout the market. So there was pretty much something to do or see around every corner. After this excursion was over, I headed back home to work on homework up until it was time to FaceTime with my family.
Since the last time I blogged I have booked my flight to go see my friend Nina in Germany! I love how easy it is to travel around Europe and am very much looking forward to visiting her and her family. I'll be an official world traveler when I come back home! I'm fortunate that I have a long weekend off from school so that I am able to travel to see her.
It's hard to believe that I have been here for a little over a month. Time is really flying by! Pretty soon it'll be time for my family to come for spring break (Semana Santa). I'm excited to be able to show them around Palma and to be able to travel to Ireland and Paris with them. So from my side of the world and until next time, Hasta luego! (See ya later!)
